  1. Straightforward setup: Detailed setup drawings with labeled parts are provided with all projects. This includes a packing list of all parts shipping in your order.

  2. Communication between Smart Built Structures and the Client: The Account Manager can be contacted with questions pertaining to the quoting process. Once a project is begun, the Production Team will be the contact for questions regarding construction of the project.

    ​

  3. Quality Control: All projects, large or small, are fully built and photographed before shipping.

    ​

  4. Expected response time: A response to emails and phone calls can be expected by day’s end. Quote requests are returned within 24 to 48 hours depending on the scope and size of the request.

    ​

  5. Starting a project with Smart Built Structures: To move a quoted project into production, we require the following: a signed quote, purchase order, relevant CAD and art files, and a due date.

    ​

  6. Stamped Engineering Drawings: Upon request, stamped drawings can be obtained with an additional cost that varies with the complexity of the project.

    ​

  7. Estimating Process – Overview: Requests are received by phone, fax, or email and are reviewed by an Account Manager. The client may be contacted with questions on details. After all details are clear, a quote is written which then goes to Estimating for a second review of requirements and is then priced. Quote details and pricing are reviewed a final time before it goes back to the Account Manager to be emailed and faxed.
     

  8. Smart Built Structures CAD drawings: Drawings of the project are provided to the client.

  9. Production Process – Overview: We require an approval from the client on every frame drawing and graphic layout before a project can be put into production. Approvals can be emailed or faxed to Smart Built Structures.

    ​

  10. Rush Charges: Depending upon the scope of project, timeline and existing production schedule available upon request
     

  11. Lighting Options: Smart Built Structures has several internal lighting options, working with both fluorescent and LED type lights.
     

  12. Maximum Volume: Our production volume for new projects is dependent on the scope of current projects in production, as well as the complexity and size of new projects.

     

  13. Framework Connections: Smart Built Structures uses both the standard snap button and a sturdier compression insert depending on the project and the client’s request.

     

  14. Powder Coating: Available upon request at an additional cost, this can also affect project completion due date as it is outsourced to a specialized facility.

     

  15. Tube Sizes: 1.25", 1.5", and 2" round, 1.25" and 2" square are standard, but 3" round, 3" square, and 4" square are available upon request.

     

  16. Bending Capabilities: Smart Built Structures is capable of bending 1.25", 1.5", and 2" round, 1.25" and 2" square, and 3" round upon request.

     

  17. Welding Capabilities: Both aluminum and steel can be welded in-house.

     

  18. Fire Proof Certifications: Available upon request, all fabrics used are FR certified by producing mills or certified FR application for non-FR fabric.

     

  19. Fabric Printing Process: Smart Built Structures uses both dye-sub and inkjet printing.

     

  20. Fabric Selection: We use approximately variety of fabrics depending on the needs of the project and client. Can work with custom fabrics upon request.
     

  21. Do you have a Rental Inventory? Currently some standard and custom rentals are available. Contact us with your needs.
     

  22. Do you have a recycling program? Yes.

     

  23. Do you work with SEG Bead? Yes, we can sew bead for most common extrusions.

     

  24. How do you label parts for assembly? We use adhesive numbered (i.e., 1A – 1A) labels at all splits – with special labeling or color-coded dots for complicated frames and covers when required.

     

  25. How do you keep record of frames and fabrics? We maintain electronic and hard copies of both ongoing and completed projects.

     

  26. Do you supply shipping cases? We use single-use cardboard shipping containers to ship projects, but fiber cases and crates are available at an additional cost.

     

  27. How are projects packed for shipping? Frames and covers are packed in separate bags and then placed in a single-use shipping container, or fiber cases or crates if requested.

     

  28. Do you use a liner? Yes, unless a project is requested without one. Depending on the size and shape of the project, our liners are sewn into the fabric cover.

     

  29. Do you have setup gloves and hardware kits? Yes, they are included in every project shipment

  30. Do you use forged eyebolts? Yes.

     

  31. What is the average production time on a project? After receipt of frame sign-off and good art, typical production is 10 – 15 business days. This can be shorter or longer depending on the size and scope of the project.
     

  32. Do you do strike-offs? What size? Can you do them in one day? Yes, we can do 12” x 12” logo, image section, or a palette.
